The Chronicle Herald confirmed that well-known Halifax property developer and philanthropist George Henry Wright (b. 1849) had died on the ill-fated voyage of the Titanic, age sixty-three. His body was not recovered. His will left his residence on the corner of Inglis and Young Street (number 689) to the Council of Women of Halifax to further the cause of women’s suffrage (their right to vote), and the rest to relatives.
