William Eager died at the age of forty-three (born in Ireland in 1796). A businessman, artist and teacher, he arrived in Halifax from St. John’s, Newfoundland, in 1834. In 1838, he organized a major art exhibition in Halifax featuring his work and the work of his students, representing over 125 items. In July and August of 1839, he published his first lithographs in two parts, titled Nova Scotia Illustrated. Parts three and four were published posthumously in May and August 1840.
