Remembering Diana

The Royal Visit to Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland and Prince Edward Island

by Eric Hayes (photographer) and David Nichols (photographer)

For two weeks in June 1983, thousands gathered in 20 communities throughout the region to greet the Prince and Princess of Wales and, together, to celebrate pride in their communities.

For two weeks in June 1983, thousands gathered in 20 communities throughout the region to greet the Prince and Princess of Wales and, together, to celebrate pride in their communities.
Here is the formality of the state dinner, the spur-of-the-moment friendliness of an impromptu walkabout. Here are the region's largest cities and smallest villages, all decked out for royalty. Here are Maritimers and Newfoundlanders having good times together. Here are Charles and the beautiful young Princess.
The 1983 royal tour was an event that many still remember with fondness, nostalgia--and now, with sadness too. This illustrated souvenir portrays the Prince and Princess in the fresh bloom of their marriage.
