About the Authors
MONICA HUGHES lives in Edmonton, Alberta. She is the author of 28 books including Jan's Big Bang. A few of her many awards include the Vicky Metcalf Award, the Writers Guild of Alberta Award, and the Canada Council Prize for Children's Literature.
CARLOS FREIRE lives in Toronto. He is an illustrator who apprenticed with a leading muralist in his native Chile. He has illustrated numerous books that have been published throughout the world.
